Gerry Reid's Professional Development Tip

Clarify "Nouns"

To improve the quality of your communication with other people, listen carefully for their use of nouns. When you detect a noun that you do not understand, or if you think your understanding of that noun is different than the other person's definition, ask the following question:

"When you said (substitute the noun here), what did you mean, specifically?"

This concept is also covered in my book A.S.K. for Success! and in my workshop titled Advanced Communication Skills.
